Abstract:
Urban community gardens serve as political expressions for various collectives and popular movements. This research explores the Gera Juncal Community Garden in São Paulo as a case of urban commoning. Using a feminist and relational lens, it examines how principles and practices within the garden navigate tensions between interdependence and autonomy while fostering belonging and legitimacy. The analysis highlights urban agroecology, food sovereignty, solidarity economy, and popular education as core practices shaped by broader urban struggles for justice. By framing the garden as a community of care, the research situates its practices within political and social dynamics, contributing to discussions on urban commons, collective life, and the role of care in territorial resistance.
